I don’t know how it happened, but red-orange has become my go-to color recently. Pantone can do what it wants with marinara or marsupial or whatever it decided the color of the year was. My color of the year is poppy.

And my shoes of the year are probably these Kate Spade cuties. But really, flats with bows in general are just the shoes of my life. Throw in some polka dots and you’ve pretty much summed me up.

By the way, do you like how it looks like I’m wearing culottes in that last photo? Wearing a light skirt in really gusty winds makes for an interesting photo shoot…

If yesterday’s garage door teaser wasn’t enough for you, here it is – my new house!!! Hashtag adulting. As you might have noticed, it is by no means some fancy new mansion. It’s small but strong, built to last, super cute, and full of character. Does that sound like anyone you know? No? Nobody? Oh…well, OK. Moving on then.

We’re still not officially living in the house, but last week my in-laws came in to town to help us with all kinds of stuff. We put my father-in-law to work installing overhead lights and a ceiling fan, replacing our front door, hanging things, and fixing other things. For Father’s Day, we gave him the day (mostly) off, which is when I showered and put on these real clothes so we could all go out to eat, to the museum, and out to eat again. I guess all that time in my “well made” house inspired me to put on this tee (or maybe it was just that it’s new and I hadn’t worn it yet…whatever). It was an especially appropriate shirt for Father’s Day because my dad’s genes are part of what make me so well made. 🙂

Oh yeah… Since my FIL did so much work on my house for free, I told him I would give him a shout out! Congrats, Tim – this will probably be the only time your name is mentioned on a style blog. He might not wear anything that special, but if you live near Greenville, SC, and you have a tree stump to get rid of, call Tim at the number on this truck!
