I find the phrase “a pop of color” to be a heinous cliché. Kind of like “day-to-night.” That’s not to say I don’t like pops of color. In fact, I’m a big fan, as you might have noticed if you have functioning eyeballs (style blogs are probably lost on you otherwise). Sometimes I even go with two pops of different colors like I did here. I just hate calling them that because everyone else does. But I guess there really isn’t a better phrase. It’s like “moist” – everyone seems to hate that word, but there’s not a great alternative when you want to describe something moist (“Mmmmm, I love how this cake isn’t dry but also isn’t liquified!” What? No. It’s moist.)

But I still feel like there are other options here. “A burst of bright,” perhaps? Oooh, yeah, I like that. Let’s start using that instead. And before you know it, “burst of bright” will be in every fashion magazine known to woman and then I’ll hate it. So it goes.

P.S. Happy JULY!

Budgeting Bloggers: June

June Budget Breakdown

Whoa, is it that time again already?! Where did the month go? Oh, right, for me it went to buying a damn house and moving 6 years’ worth of stuff out of my apartment. You’d think with all that going on, I wouldn’t have a spare moment to shop. Yes, you would think that, wouldn’t you? But sometimes after a day full of #allofthestress, I’d treat myself to a big glass of wine and a mini shopping spree. It really did the trick. Sure, it’s more stuff to move, but with 100+ pairs of shoes already, what’s another 6? Wait, I acquired SIX pairs of shoes this month? Damn. See below for details on the damage:

My Budget

  •  ~$200 carried over from last month – I didn’t add any “starting” budget amount for the month since I knew I would be spending more than usual on stuff for the house.
  • ~$35 sold old clothes
  • ~$818 in blog income – This is very out of the ordinary for me, but it couldn’t have come at a better time! What I didn’t spend on clothes is going toward my dressing room in the new house. It’s far from complete yet, but you better believe it will get its own blog post next month.

= $1053 (a number you will probably never see here again)

What I Spent (starting top left)

       = $539 (total retail value $1088!)

This left me with more than $500 to put toward my dream closet, so all the pretty stuff I buy will have a pretty place to sleep at night. 🙂 You can see a tiny peek at how it’s coming together on Instagram.
