I know I’m not the only introvert whose wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend/BFF is an extrovert, so listen up, fellow anti-socialites. I figured out how to convince my “what-are-we-doing-tonight?!” other half that it’s fun to stay home on Saturday night: I called it a slumber party. We put on cute PJs, had taco dip for dinner, watched two dark comedies starring former SNL cast members (Obvious Child and Welcome to Me), and had fresh-baked cookies delivered for a late-night snack. Then we played “Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board” with our cat. SHE LOVED IT, I swear. So the key is: make staying home sound like an event and you can convince those social butterflies in your life to give you a break from peopling. Because peopling is so hard. All the talking and smiling and acting like a pleasant person? Exhausting.

What does my story have to do with this outfit? Not much, but this is what I wore on Friday when I stayed out til 1am talking and smiling and acting like a pleasant person (ish), which is how I earned the right to make the Saturday night non-plans.

It’s official. I have crossed the line from slightly quirky feline lover to bona fide crazy cat lady. When faced with picking a new monogram accessory, I saw this little kitty cat ring and decided it would be adorable to get it with a “C” for my little fur baby Coco. It also works for my old cat Cleo, who died two year ago (may she rest in peace, eating all the Fancy Feast she wants and chasing infinite hummingbirds). I’m hoping I can keep my crazy cat lady status under wraps even when wearing this ring because it’s so tiny that non-cat people might not even notice it. Then again, I don’t really care. Let the record show that I, Sarah, love cats more than people. I love their little faces and their little paws and how they wash their little faces with their little paws. And how they can fall asleep sitting up. And how they’re allowed to sniff new people and just walk away if they’re not interested in spending more time with them. Actually, maybe I don’t love cats so much as I wish I were a cat.
