When: Saturday // Weather: 70 (in my house) // Real life: hosting our annual Christmas party

If it were totally up to me, I would probably host a Christmas party once every 5 years or so. But you know what they say: marriage is about compromise. And the compromise between every year and every 5 years is…every year. So here we are again.

But for everything I don’t love about hosting a party (tidying, making food, staying awake until everyone leaves), there are a few things I do love. First: I know I’ll have my drink of choice (and in a monogram tumbler). Second: I can wear whatever I want no matter the weather. The day of our party was a gross mess of rain and then freezing rain. While our friends all showed up damp in boots and many layers, I got to greet them looking impossibly fresh in my suede flats. I think they only forgave me because I supplied them with wine and homemade cheese balls, but that works for me.

…the 3 things that keep me going 🙂

I try not to be wasteful, but when your disposable cups are adorable (and they hold your life’s blood, aka coffee), how could they possibly be a waste? You can find these at Target!

One of my favorite recent outfits. It was inspired by a look from Little Blonde Book, but I swapped her t-shirt out for a sweater because, you know, Midwest winters.

Faux leather and plaid: they almost still look sort of good even in parking garage lighting.

I got this tumbler last Christmas and used it for the first time at this year’s Christmas party. Better late than never? It’s been looking super cute in my cabinet the last 12 months though.

I picked up this scarf on my recent trip to NYC. OK, sure, technically it’s from Loft, where I can and do shop on practically a weekly basis. But still, I picked up this scarf in NYC. I’m very worldly.

Yet another decent work outfit that didn’t get a proper photo shoot thanks to limited daylight. Sometimes I have to remind myself that the vast majority of people are not weirdos who take photos of their clothes, and some of them are still kind of productive members of society.
