Apparently, Saturday was National Stripes Day. I didn’t make a big deal of it, because National Stripes Day is like Earth Day. It should be every day. So instead I’ll just keep driving around in my sensible hybrid, wearing stripes 4 to 7 days a week, as I tend to do.

THIS will go down in history as the dress I wore when I saw Michelle Obama. In person. It wasn’t the same day these pictures were taken, but a M’Obama dress must be worn again and again. That morning, I honestly thought about my outfit in terms of “would Michelle like this?” even though I knew there was zero chance she would actually see me up in the cheap seats among 12,000 other people. But I guess she just has that effect on people – you want her to be proud of you even if she doesn’t know you exist. If Mrs. O ever does a speaking engagement near you, I highly highly highly encourage you to go, because she is an amazing and inspiring woman whether or not your political views match up. I also highly encourage you to wear navy stripes. Just because they’re cute.
