Have you ever wondered what those angsty bands you listed to in high school and college are up to now? The answer is: they’re playing at Midwestern state fairs.

And have you ever wondered who goes to see, say, Dashboard Confessional and the All American Rejects at, say, the Indiana State Fair? The answer is ME, and a few hundred other 20- and 30-somethings who want to relive the early 2000s. And to celebrate the good old days when I was too young to have cellulite, I wore short shorts 🙂

I realized once I got there that I really don’t know that many Dashboard or All American Rejects songs, but I sure did scream along to the ones I knew. I’ve been working a lot and being oh-so-adult lately (hence the sporadic blogging), so an outdoor concert to remind me of my more youthful days was definitely a great way to soak in the last full month of summer.

HAPPY SUNDAY, everyone! In case you hadn’t heard, Sundays Fundays are pretty much my favorite. Last Sunday was my birthday, so everyone had to subscribe to my idea of a Sunday Funday, whether they liked it or not (but I think they did). We had a boozy brunch, then ran around the zoo for a couple hours. I put sunscreen on everyone because this birthday queen wants everyone to stay pale and melanoma-free.

The combo of alcohol and sun wiped me out, so I went home and took a nap. (This is life at 32, apparently.) I woke up and decided I wanted pizza but didn’t want to get out of bed. So we ordered in and I ate my pesto pie in bed while watching Netflix. It was absolutely perfect. Not that I’m in a rush to turn another year older, but it wasn’t so bad doing exactly what I wanted for a whole day.
