So. You might have noticed one of the 10 trends for the Looking Lucky challenge is “cropped.” Originally it was cropped tops specifically, but then we just went with cropped because it gives you a little more room for interpretation. Because I’m an overachiever, I decided to rock a cropped top AND pants at the same time on Saturday.

For those of you afraid of the crop top trend, let this be a lesson to you. The crop tops of 2014 are not worn the same way the crop tops of 2001 were. It’s not about showing off your belly ring anymore (for the record, I never had one). I mean depending on your age, the occasion, and how many sit-ups you do, I guess you could still show a bunch of midriff and get away with it. But if you’re over 20, aren’t going clubbing in Miami, and can’t remember the last time you did a sit-up (unless you count time time you had to stretch really far to reach the bag of chips at the end of your bed), you still don’t have to cast off the crop top trend. If you layer it over a longer shirt like I’m doing here, you don’t have to show even a sliver of skin if you don’t want to. If you’re slightly more daring, I also love the idea of wearing a crop top with a high waisted skirt, so you just see a hint of skin right above the waist. I’m definitely going to try that some weekend when it warms up a little more! I might do a few sit-ups before I do it though…just to be safe.

So what do you think about crop tops now? Have I convinced you? If the idea intrigues you but you don’t want to spend money on one, you can always temporarily “hem” a shirt with fabric tape! Man, I am just full of helpful tips today. You’re welcome.

Thing that makes me happy: The fact that lots of fun people are joining the Looking Lucky challenge. And one of those fun people is going to win a $15 gift card to Lucky B Boutique soon! Remember all you have to do to get in on this action is wear one of the 10 trends (like floral, which I’m rocking today) and post a pic on Instagram. Get the details here.

Thing that doesn’t make me happy: Trying to take my own outfit photos in the middle of a cold, rainless hurricane. What, you think there’s no such thing as a cold, rainless hurricane? In April? In Indiana? Well all kinds of people believe in God even though they’ve never seen her, so I don’t know why I can’t believe in cold, rainless hurricanes when I just survived one. These were the select few photos when my bangs weren’t pointing directly east and/or I wasn’t making a really pissed off face.
