I snagged this vest on sale, but I still paid almost $100 for it. I know. The thing is, I have a feeling this is going to be the new “IT” vest of the season. J. Crew’s excursion vests are pretty popular, and in years past I waited for a good sale on the houndstooth version and they sold out. So this year I splurged. But in my defense, it’s gingham and adorable. And I’m already thinking up multiple ways to wear it so I make sure I get my money’s worth. I definitely see some pattern mixing in its future. It’ll also look cute with a dress or button-up shirt. When it gets colder, I’ll probably layer another jacket with it. Man, now I’m thinking I got a great deal on this vest. My arguments are pretty convincing. (I knew law school would come in handy one of these days.)

I’m not sure I could wear this pigeon shirt in a bigger city like Chicago or New York. There are too many actual pigeons there dive-bombing pedestrians and pooping on the sidewalk. Pigeons don’t come across as quirky and cute in those cities, even on shirt.

Luckily, there aren’t many pigeons in Indianapolis. It’s more of a squirrel city. Look, one even interrupted our photo shoot. But in his defense, there was freshly cut grass, so obviously he had to stuff all of it in his mouth. It’s what anyone would have done.

OK, back to me and my adorable shirt.
