You know what this hat is good for besides being adorable? Holding down my hair on a windy day so it doesn’t stick to my lipstick. You know me – always practical.

After I put on this hat, I immediately thought of this:

I swear this was not intentional, but when you’ve seen this 90s classic as many times as I have, it’s impossible not to absorb a little bit of the fashion sense sometimes.

I know I’m not the only Cher Horowitz fan, because one of my coworkers spotted me and told me I looked very Clueless. I’m 75% sure she meant the movie, and not that I looked like I didn’t know what I was doing. Although let’s be honest…I’m still just a baby lawyer. A lot of the time I really don’t know what I’m doing. Just fake it til you make it and wear a cute hat: that’s what I always say.

I try not to be one of those people who says “I’m ____, so I can’t wear ____.” You know, like “I’m not skinny, so I can’t wear skinny jeans,” or “I’m busty, so I can’t wear boxy jackets, ” or “I’m short, so I can’t wear midi skirts” or “I’m pale, so I can’t wear neon.” It’s important to be aware of what proportions and colors are most flattering on you. But on the other hand, if you obsess over it, you miss out on wearing some fun stuff you really love. So even though I usually avoid oxfords because I think they make my feet look big, I made an exception for this craze-mazing leopard print haircalf pair. That’s just the kind of rules-be-damned, thrill seeking, fly-by-the-seat-of-my-flattering-ankle-pants girl I am. I hope everyone has a decent Monday, and you are all hereby challenged to wear something this week that makes you happy but doesn’t make you look perfect. Have fun.
