I don’t always match my shoes to my outfit, but when I do, it’s because they’re mint green and I’m desperately trying to hang on to spring. Even when it snows in April. I mean seriously. What is that about? Actually, the day I wore this outfit, it rained, snowed, hailed, and then the sun came out like nothing ever happened. Oh, and then it snowed again while the sun was still out. I don’t even know. All I know is that mint green shoes helped.

OK, I’ve stretched out the Nashville fun as long as I could, but I’m afraid we’ve come to the end of the road! This is what I wore for the last half-day of our mini-vacay and then on the drive back home to Indy.

We saved one last tourist destination for Sunday – the Ryman Auditorium. Originally, when we first started planning the trip, we thought the current Grand Ole Opry was an obvious must-visit. Then we did some more research about the Ryman (the home of the Opry from 1943-1974) and decided to go there instead. I can’t really compare the two (yet) since I didn’t go to the current Opry, but the Ryman is the bomb dot com and I’m so glad we went!

We did the self-guided tour, which meant we got to watch a fun little movie about the history of the building, and then got to go into the actual auditorium and see some of the mementos of people who have performed there over the years. Oh, and you better believe we paid for the commemorative photo of us holding guitars on stage. 😉

As cool as the music history aspect of the Ryman is, I could not get over the architecture. I am a major architecture nerd, and this might be one of my new favorite buildings. I mean, how can you not love the multi-colored windows and gothic facade?! So if you’re ever in Nashville, at least take a walk around the outside. And snap a photo or two (outfit or otherwise).

Be sure to check out the rest of my Nashville trip “Music City Diary” in Parts 1, 2, & 3!
