I recently discovered a love for rosé and now I’m trying to make up for lost time. I mean I’ve been a wine lover for years and I just now give rosé the time of day?! Shame on me. I had a glass (OK, fine, 2 glasses) at an after-work pizza date last week, and the color of the wine perfectly matched the polka dots on my new dress.

I know wine and polka dots are trivial things to talk about when the whole world seems to falling apart around us. But there’s not much I can do to stop cops from shooting people, or people from shooting cops, or truck drivers from running down crowds, or Turkish militia from staging a coup. If we all stop too long to think about how helpless we feel, it won’t make things better. It might even make things worse. So I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing and hope it encourages you to enjoy trivial things sometimes. Stay informed, stay motivated, but buy that dress and order that second glass of wine.

Peace, love, and polka dots,

Sarah

I’ve had this shirt for a long time (by my standards, anyway). I bought it at Club Monaco on a trip to NYC. I don’t remember exactly what year it was, but I’m pretty sure it was post-college and pre-law-school. So I’m going to guess I’ve had it for about 6 or 7 years. You might be wondering why I would hang on to a boring t-shirt when I normally subscribe to the “rotating closet” mentality. I can’t explain it exactly, but something about this t-shirt is so perfect.

Well, it has stripes, so…duh. But beyond that, it’s soft and thin and drapey and everything you could ever want in a t-shirt. It’s so soft and thin and drapey, in fact, that it feels like it could fall apart at any moment. I didn’t “break it in” to get it this way — it was like this from the beginning, which is probably why I paid $40 for a t-shirt when I was only making $9 an hour and had just spent 2 months’ pay on a trip to the Big Apple. The problem is that I’ve come to love this shirt so much that I’m afraid to wear it out. So I only wear it once or twice a year.

Welcome to 2016, perfect t-shirt. I hope you enjoyed your Sunday Funday. See you when Hillary’s president.
