I’ve been wondering lately if I’m aging out of wearing certain things. Like, say, ruffly heart-print dresses.  Well, clearly I made up my mind about this particular ruffly heart-print dress. It’s black and brown (traditional lawyer colors), so that’s my rationale for calling it mature. But if it were pink? I don’t think I can get away with that.

I also ordered a chambray shirt with a ruffle yoke recently. As cute as it is, I have to send it back. It legit looks like I’m wearing a shirt meant for a baby. I can barely sneak by wearing stuff from Forever 21 anymore, but Gymboree is a different story.

Am I over-thinking this? It’s just that I’ve seen women of a certain age (not old, but older than I) wearing things that made me make think “ummmm, should we, though?” and I don’t want to be one of those women one day! (This is your opportunity to tell me that I’m not over-thinking this, but that I absolutely can still wear this dress.)

If there’s one decent thing that gets me through the tragic, ice-coated nightmare that is a Midwest winter, it is…AWARD SEASON. I love movies. I love TV. I love fashion. I love watching movies and TV and judging the fashion. Watching the Golden Globes and the Oscars is a little more fun when you’re informed, so in January we find out what’s getting “buzz” and warm up with some hot popcorn at the movies! This past weekend we saw The Post, and the weekend before that (when I wore this outfit) we saw I, Tonya. Both were great, but if I’m being honest…I liked I, Tonya better [insert slightly embarrassed but unapologetic emoji face here]. I, Tonya is funny, it’s clever, it’s moving, it makes you think, and best of all, it involves figure skating and 90s bangs.

We still have a few weeks before the Oscars – what else should I see?!
