No, Ms. Elephant, I’m not body shaming you. You’re beautiful just the way you are.

I know there are fashion/style bloggers who put on outfits just because they’ll look cool with a certain “shoot” location, but I pinky promise that’s not what’s going on here. I put on this bright yellow dress because (1) it’s adorable, obvs, and (2) I knew it was going to be hot as balls for Sunday Funday.

On this particular Sunday, we went out for lunch, then decided to hit up Newfields (the home of the Indy art museum, gardens, and other fun things) because we hadn’t been in awhile. Well, it turns out my brightly colored ensemble fit right in, because the whole campus was full of these plastic animal sculptures by the Italian art collective Cracking Art. And while I was mostly there to have a nice, relaxing weekend afternoon, the blogger in me couldn’t resist the photo op. 😉

These creatures will only be here one more week, so if you’re in the Indy area, I highly recommend a visit. I suppose it’s something kids would like (not my expertise), but it’s also perfect for any adults who appreciate whimsy.

On this particular day, I noticed the cord that ties these shoes was getting a little bit worn. They were cheap, so I wasn’t really surprised. Anyway, I forgot about it and put them back in my closet.

Fast forward to last Friday when I was up at 4:30am to catch a flight to NYC for my birthday weekend (the only good reason to be up at 4:30am). In my sleepy stupor, I put these on, hopped on the plane, hopped off the plane, and proceeding to walk all over Soho. The shoes got exponentially sadder as the day wore on, and I still had a lot of day ahead of me. But it was New York, so naturally the best option was to go buy new shoes and throw these in the trash. So that’s exactly what I did. 🙂

Farewell, old shoes. Consider this your swan song.
