On this particular day, I noticed the cord that ties these shoes was getting a little bit worn. They were cheap, so I wasn’t really surprised. Anyway, I forgot about it and put them back in my closet.

Fast forward to last Friday when I was up at 4:30am to catch a flight to NYC for my birthday weekend (the only good reason to be up at 4:30am). In my sleepy stupor, I put these on, hopped on the plane, hopped off the plane, and proceeding to walk all over Soho. The shoes got exponentially sadder as the day wore on, and I still had a lot of day ahead of me. But it was New York, so naturally the best option was to go buy new shoes and throw these in the trash. So that’s exactly what I did. 🙂

Farewell, old shoes. Consider this your swan song.

This is one of those outfits that perfectly encapsulates the “girly badass” style that really speaks to me. 🙂 Light and dark, pretty birds and metallic studs. I like to imagine my alter ego is a Parisian superhero. She goes about her life with that not-trying-too-hard-but-still-chic thing going on, and then at night she walks the streets of Paris looking for people in distress, and rescues them. She doesn’t ask for payment or fame in return, just wine and croissants.
