Kimono Girl

I rocked some fringe this weekend, and I’m not just talking about my frizzy air-dried hair (#weekend). Somehow, I acquired 3 kimonos in a matter of a few days this month. Before this month, I probably owned 3 kimonos total my whole life. I’m not sure what possessed me, other than the effective marketing of the fashion industry. But I have to admit they’re a pretty great summer layer.

I’m trying to space out wearing my 3 kimonos so I don’t become “that girl who always wears kimonos.” I prefer to stick with “that girl who always looks like she’s  thinking something snarky” or “that girl who’s always eating a snack.”

Note to self: Snark & Snacks…working title for my memoir.

No, Ms. Elephant, I’m not body shaming you. You’re beautiful just the way you are.

I know there are fashion/style bloggers who put on outfits just because they’ll look cool with a certain “shoot” location, but I pinky promise that’s not what’s going on here. I put on this bright yellow dress because (1) it’s adorable, obvs, and (2) I knew it was going to be hot as balls for Sunday Funday.

On this particular Sunday, we went out for lunch, then decided to hit up Newfields (the home of the Indy art museum, gardens, and other fun things) because we hadn’t been in awhile. Well, it turns out my brightly colored ensemble fit right in, because the whole campus was full of these plastic animal sculptures by the Italian art collective Cracking Art. And while I was mostly there to have a nice, relaxing weekend afternoon, the blogger in me couldn’t resist the photo op. 😉

These creatures will only be here one more week, so if you’re in the Indy area, I highly recommend a visit. I suppose it’s something kids would like (not my expertise), but it’s also perfect for any adults who appreciate whimsy.
