Remember that work trip I told you about? Well, I’m on it! After a brief travel hiccup, I made it to a very muggy Orlando on Friday night. Yesterday I checked into the conference, had what turned out to be a really fun coffee meeting with an attorney from Australia (he gave me a little stuffed kangaroo), and attended a session about cultural intelligence for trademark lawyers. Did you know that in China, Quaker Oats are labeled with Chinese characters that translate to Old Man Brand? That tickles me. Then there was an orientation and reception for first-time attendees, so I got some good advice (don’t drink too much, and make friends). I immediately put that advice to work, having one glass of wine and chatting with some other young attorneys from California, Arizona, and Tennessee.
I noticed most people were dressed more business casual (lots of suits), but I figured it was Saturday and I was in Florida so I would dress the part. I’ve found that the best thing to do when you’re dressed different than everyone else is not worry about it – and just tell yourself you’re dressed better than everyone else. 😉

I am so in love with that kimono! Typically, that’s not my look, but this one is just fantastic. The print and the cut give it a more tailored and versatile edge.
Same here! Not usually something I try, but once in awhile (like in Florida) it’s the perfect thing!
