I used to not be much of an LBD girl, mostly because I don’t like when people tell me what I’m “supposed” to have/wear/buy, and pretty much every list of what women are “supposed” to have/wear/buy includes an LBD. I held out for long enough to prove that you most certainly can survive in the world without a black dress, but even I can’t deny they’re pretty damn convenient when you need to get dressed in under 2 minutes or you want something that will go with your new jacket or shoes or whatever. I actually have a few LBDs now, and each one has a little something unique. This is the latest addition to my small collection, and I love the tweed texture and fringe detail. It reminds me of lights wrapped around a Christmas tree…you know…if the Christmas tree were burnt to a crisp and all the bulbs were out. But classier because it’s an LBD, obvs.

I totally agree with following “the rules” or rather with not following other peoples rules. I only have 1 LBD and barely ever wear it. I only get things that I really like and that usually involves some color or pattern 🙂
I’m such a fan of long-sleeved shirts and blouses under dresses! It’s usually my go-to in the colder months, but my own LBD is a little snug this year and I haven’t yet found a proper replacement. I totally agree about buying “staple” pieces like an LBD with something special about them. I think I remember that you also bought the BB Dakota LBD from Shopbop, and I love that it has a unique pleating detail at the flare.
Those boots are perfection on you!
