I’m far from a poetry buff, but I have loved Dorothy Parker since high school. I guess I’m just a sucker for intelligent, sarcastic women; they’re everything I strive to be. I’m also a sucker for Kate Spade, so when Kate first came out with a line of stuff featuring DP quotes, it was like winning the lottery. Except when you win the lottery, you get a bunch of free money, and Kate Spade is definitely not free. I couldn’t convince myself to spend my own money, but imagine my giddiness when many months later, my favorite wife surprised me with this bag for Christmas! She also got me a copy of The Portable Dorothy Parker (that I can carry around in my new bag! hooray!), which I highly recommend if you want to check out my girl DP. It’s all poems and short stories, so you can read a little or a lot at one time. Plus the cover is really cute.

I have LOVED DP since before I can remember. I chose her for my poetry project in Creative Writing my senior year of high school – I read “Symptom Recital” (my fav) to the class, and I just remember everybody looking at me like, “Seriously?”
