This is an outfit I wore over the weekend to have lunch with my old freshman roommate, who lives in California, so I haven’t seen her in YEARS. Part of the fun – or horror – of going to college is getting thrown into a tiny room with a random person whom you may or may not like. Your freshman roomie is probably someone you’ll never forget, either because he/she was your very first friend in college, or because he/she was the freak of all freaks. Lucky for me, mine was the former!
We spent Sunday reminiscing about the good ol’ days (the parts we remember, anyway) and catching up on how our lives have changed since then. I think we’ve matured, but only slightly. Here’s a picture of us in our dorm room in 2003, and us today! We’re kind of like wine…age has only done good things for us.
Alright! Here’s the part where you can (a) tell me your thoughts on my outfit, (b) tell me a roommate-from-hell story, or (c) both.
Key-print scarf available at J. Crew Factory
You’re so lucky you had a wonderful college roommate! My freshman roommate definitely fell into the “freak of all freaks” category. First of all, she was an opera singer majoring in music and would constantly sing in the shower. Every time she talked to her mom on the phone she had a major breakdown and would be crying hysterically (and this happened often). Also, the TV (mine) was on my side of the room and she would constantly be in my space. One time she brought a chair over and propped her bare feet up on my bed. NOT ACCEPTABLE! Oh, I’m shuddering just thinking about it. Yes, I’m a germaphobe, can you tell yet? 😉
Enough about me! You look super cute! I love your striped top, I am definitely on a stripes kick and want to buy everything striped right now. Love the scarf too, the key print is really unique!
Hahaha thanks for the story! Love it! (but I’m sorry for what you went through, of course)
Hi! I’ve nominated you for a Liebster Award, Congrats 🙂

Seriously, you are definitely lucky to have a roomie that you loved…and is adorable! Speaking of, I love the stripes with the scarf, I’m pretty much addicted to stripes!!!
P.S. I’d love for you to come enter my monogrammed bag giveaway! Come join the fun! http://loveallthingsbrightandbeautiful.blogspot.com/2012/09/grateful-bags-giveaway.html
A) This outfit is very put-together yet didn’t try to hard
B) Even though I’m still in college, I chose to have a random roomie, and it was the best choice hands down. Three years later and I couldn’t fathom a life without her…precious right?
Awww how cute (gag). Glad you got a good one too!
My freshman year roommate was a bit too friendly with the fellas…if ya get my drift. She was also an insane neat freak…I am neat, but she would only write on unlined paper if she used a ruler first to make her own lines. But the outfit is great…those jeans are super cute.
I do indeed catch your drift! She sounds like a winner.
Super cute belt, I love the little details! And that scarf is great – looking forward to checking out your other outfits too:)
