I thought about not posting these photos at all. The outfit’s kind of underwhelming, and the photos are a little grainy because they were taken in the lobby of Indianapolis Int’l Airport. But then I remembered this is supposed to be my real life, and in real life, I wear jeans and a sweatshirt when I travel, not a $300 cashmere scarf or whatever fancy jetsetting bloggers wear. I’m actually not sure what they wear because I’ve been too busy to keep up with all the jetsetting bloggers’ updates (again…real life…I have one).

So here ya go — it’s just me, wearing comfy cozy clothes so I can get on a plane to go see my family for Christmas. The only thing I wish I had done differently with this outfit was added a nice pair of earplugs because I ended up sharing my flight with a screaming baby. (For the love of god, why do people take babies on airplanes?)

  1. yeah, really. new parents really don’t need to travel to see family or take vacations, especially at the holidays. what sort of age limit should we set? maybe 5 years old b/c toddlers can be pretty nuts on planes, too. good thing adults are always great seatmates so we never have to worry about them. seriously? get over yourself.

    1. Don’t be silly. Children have no place on planes at all. It’s so nice to take a trip to see relatives and take a baby on a twelve hour drive instead of a two hour flight.

Also, as a parent, I’m mortified when my child cries endlessly. I also do anything I can to help her to stop, but you know what, she’s a human, and she has emotions that can only be communicated through crying right now. Maybe when she’s an adult and can use judgmental words like you can, you’ll like her better.

      1. Ladies, I totally respect your opinions. But I do think you’re getting a little too worked up about an off-hand comment. I didn’t say people shouldn’t be allowed to take babies on planes or that you’re terrible parents if your baby cries, or anything like that. I was just generally venting to the universe about be trapped in a box in the sky with no way to escape from a shrieking noise that cannot be stopped. People have the right to take babies on planes, just like I have the right to whine about it for 2 seconds, and you have the right to stop reading my blog if you think I’m a big fat jerk (sometimes I am, but…I don’t think this is one of those times).

        1. You also have the right to bring ear plugs like you said you had wished you had done. You also have the right to have a little empathy for people in a difficult situation. I’m all for whining; trust me, I do it all of the time on my blog. But, there was something about this that completely rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps it was intended to be a humorous remark, but it fell really flat to me. Something about the “for the love of God” might have sealed it for me. Good luck with your future travels. Maybe go ahead and buy those ear plugs so you don’t have to whine about this again.
