Somehow, I’ve been married for 6 years. It’s a miracle anyone agreed to marry a smartass party pooper like myself, much less remain married to a smartass party pooper for 2,192 days and counting. It must be my eyes.

We celebrated our anniversary with a quick weekend roadtrip to Bloomington, where we met. (IU class of 2007!) Saturday was spent sipping vino at Oliver Winery, followed by dinner at Finch’s, then a play, then cocktails at Cardinal Spirits (if you follow the blog What I Wore, her husband is one of the founders of the distillery).

The play was a stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion. I haven’t read the book, but now I want to. Maybe I’ll add it to my to-do list for when I retire. My favorite line from the play (and the book) that seemed perfectly fitting for the occasion was: “I must learn to brook being happier than I deserve.” After this many years, I’m finally starting to get the hang of it.
