I decided kind of last-minute to make the effort to go downtown to the Women’s March on Washington Indianapolis sister rally, so I didn’t have a funny tee or a sign or a pink hat. But I thought a shirt with a pussybow would be appropriate, even if I was the only one who got the incredibly subtle joke.

As a die-hard cynic, I don’t think I got as much out of the experience as some other people (like, what is the point of chanting “U-S-A”?) but I’m still glad I went. After seeing the coverage of all the marches around the world, I’m happy that I can say I joined in.

Did all those rallies accomplish anything concrete? Well, probably not directly. But I do think they energized a lot of people who would not consider themselves activists. If I’m being realistic (which I always am), I think the vast majority of people who went to a Women’s March on Saturday will not do a single thing to try and affect change this year. (Social media ranting doesn’t count.) But a lot of them, including me, will be inspired to contact a senator, volunteer, donate money, sign a petition, etc.

See? Even cynics can be positive sometimes. I just ask myself: What would Hillary do?

  1. I love it! We grabbed back big time this weekend! To borrow a phrase from “fearless (feckless) leader”… that bow is tremendous, and your look wins bigly. Believe me.
