If you read my monthly shopping roundups, you know I buy the vast majority of my clothes from stores where every other 20- or 30-something middle class working woman buys her clothes. I like to think I combine them in unique ways and have my own personal style, but there’s no denying most of my sartorial sources are pretty predictable.

But once in awhile, just to make sure I can keep my fashion blogger credentials, I like to wear something that everyone and her mom and her mom’s manicurist and her mom’s manicurist’s niece doesn’t also have. Like if I’m out of town (or even in my own town) perusing local shops, I’ll sometimes buy something to take home as a souvenir, or in the summer I’ll hit up art fairs and get a cool, handmade accessory.

Speaking of cool and handmade, if you want to buy some one-of-a-kind accessories without going on vacation or to an art fair, I can now recommend the jewelry at UncommonGoods.com! Aren’t my necklace and ring gorgeous? They’re actually by different artists, but I thought they went really together.

UG actually has a ton of gorgeous necklaces (here) – it was hard to choose one! There are some cool statement pieces, but if you’re more of a “simple is better” girl, you can find some really pretty minimal jewelry here.

Some other awesome things about Uncommon Goods:

  • ~about 1/3 of their products are made from recycled/upcycled materials
  • ~their seasonal workers are paid starting at 50% above minimum wage
  • ~$1 of every purchase is donated to charity (they’re up to $1 million in donations now)

And in case you were wondering, yes, the rest of this outfit is from Loft and J. Crew. 😉
