It seems like every spring and fall for the last 5 years I’ve wanted to find a trench coat. But trench coat season is really short in Indiana — basically a couple weeks in March/April and a couple weeks in October. So every year I end up running into too hot or too cold weather before I find the trench that’s the right fabric, right fit, and right price.

But not this time, friends. NOT. THIS. TIME. I ordered this trench from J. Crew a couple weeks ago, and it arrived just in time for some early spring weather – coolish and scattered showers for days. I love it. The fabric isn’t too stiff or too thin. Perfect length, perfect fit (it runs a little tight in the shoulders – this is a 0P for reference). At full price ($168) it was reasonable for a classic piece, but I snagged it on sale. I might only wear it 3 weeks out of the year, but I plan on wearing it for 10 years. Which means I will now proceed to spill ketchup on it tomorrow.

These shoes probably won’t last 10 years, but for $25 I won’t complain! I have to give props to my girl Katie for bringing these to my attention. They are way more comfortable than they look. I walked at least a mile in them on Saturday sans blisters. Then again, maybe it was just my miraculous trench distracting me from any pain.
