I see your faaalll colors…shiiining through! Prepare to have that stuck in your head all day. You’re welcome. Much like the outfit I showed you yesterday, I’m once again trying to make peace with the fact that fall weather isn’t here yet. BUT! That doesn’t mean I can’t wear fall colors. You can read all the magazine articles you want about how to do “transition wear,” but this is basically it: wear an olive short-sleeved dress and animal print strappy pumps.
When I got on the elevator at work in this outfit, another woman was in there with me and she said “So you got the memo, huh? About the green dress?” And she laughed as she plucked at her own dress. I laughed too because I’m told that’s how small talk works. In my head, I was really saying 2 things:
(1) I didn’t get the memo, but I’m probably going to write the memo when I blog about this outfit – Can you see the future?!
(2) Ummm…are you aware your dress is not green?
Yeah. Her dress was gray. I didn’t want to say anything because what if she has some strange green/gray color blindness that she never knew about? I’m not about to be the stranger on the elevator to tell this woman that her eyes are lying to her. Or worse, what if her dress really was green and I’m the one with the problem?
Fun fact: Cyndi Lauper actually had a similar confusing elevator exchange in 1986. That’s what she was singing about.
