Black jumpsuits are so chic, don’t you think? I mean, look at this one. Or that one. Well, I tried one on recently and let me tell you…it was not so chic. I looked like a mechanic at an upscale garage. Like maybe I only worked on Jaguars, but still. Not cute. The trouble with a full-length, one-piece garment is that there are so many  things that can go wrong. They have to be made long enough for tall girls, which means a lot of spare fabric for girls like me. And I wouldn’t wear a jumpsuit often enough to make it worth the cost of alterations. So I faked it. I paired black drapey pants with a waist-defining black top in a similar fabric. Voila – the look of a jumpsuit without the long bathroom breaks.

  1. Love this! I feel the same way about rompers. I have a silky black romper that I love, but sometimes it poses some logistical challenges. Slim black shorts and a silky black button down can be a nice alternative, especially if you plan on consuming liquid that day 😉
