As I strutted down the hall at work in this outfit, my breezy kimono flowing behind me, one of my coworkers stopped me to tell me how amazing I looked and how she could never pull off something like this.

You guys, let me tell you a little secret. Half the time, I don’t know if I’m “pulling it off.” I second, third, and fourth guessed myself with this outfit. Was it too…”fashiony” for my office? Did it look like I was wearing a bathrobe from the back? I resolved these insecure thoughts by putting on some heels and lipstick and deciding I looked awesome. Shoulders back, chin up, determined stride.

And that’s how you “pull it off.”

  1. I call that “owning it!” You look great! I don’t always get the same response but recall an older lady at church approach me and say ” honey, look at all those colors you put together. I would have never thought to do that….but it looks good on you!” I wasn’t sure if it was a compliment or not but I prefer to think it was. Confidence!

  2. 100% confidence. And sometimes, it really helps working in the tech + engineering field, where I know most of the guys have no idea what’s trendy or fashionable 🙂
