I’m struggling with finding a happy medium in my work outfits. Some days I feel like I look more casual than everyone else, and other days I look like I’m going to meet the Queen. This was a Queen day. I don’t know if I should try to focus on finding that “just right” level of business casual, or if I should just hope that my back and forth outfits average out to a consistently properly dressed person.
As much as I loathe the idea of becoming a boring cliche lawyer, I’m thinking I just need to add a few more neutral office basics to my wardrobe. But fear not – I’ll mix them in with my fun stuff. And no one will stop me from curling my hair and wearing red lipstick. Because you never know when the Queen will stop by. I’m sure she comes to Indianapolis all the time on business.

Well i work in health care and have to wear ugly UNISEX white scrubs that make everyone look shapeless. I love your lawyer wardrobe! Far from boring I would say. This is a great outfit.
I absolutely know what you mean! I feel like my co-workers are surprised I have a fashion blog because my work wear is less than stellar! You look fantastic, I say you can never be too prepared to meet the queen! Check out my post on Wednesday as I start a work wear series!

I have always loved that coat on you, and was so sad that my size ran out before it went on sale. DAMN IT. Now what will I wear when the Queen comes to PA?
Love the look and I totally know the struggle of finding not too casual yet not too dressy work-wear. Invest in some flat boots to play down a dress and opt for a messy sock bun or a bright scarf to drown out the intensity of that adorable dress!
I agree with the masses…you look great! As fashion bloggers we should be trying to elevate the level of “business casual” anyways…..don’t you think? Of course, there is always a cardigan in my bag of tricks!~ Jodie

Literally everything I’ve bought this month has been black, white, or black and white (no idea why!), so this outfit is scratching a serious itch for me. It is killer, just killer.
And I am dying for that plaid coat you linked, but I don’t need a coat right now and I am already over my new self-imposed spending limit.
Stupid budget. Stupid self-control. Stupid fiscal responsibility.
